The S1E Eco-Screen from
Centor Architectural is a revolutionary product providing
eco-friendly retractable insect protection and thermal
control with fingertip operation. This product is the
evolution of Centor's S1 insect screen technology (patent
pending) which won the company the AMP National Innovation
Award at the Telstra Business Awards in 2008.
The combined screen and blind allows homeowners to have
control of their living environment, with the S1E Eco-Screen
entirely built into the window or door frame. The screen and
blind retract horizontally into the frame when not in use.
When used on large windows and doors it makes the most of
natural light, controls heat gain during summer, reduces
heat loss in winter, and thereby reduces reliance on heating
and cooling systems.
Blind
In summer, the thermal control blind can be used during the
day to prevent solar heat gain, similar to double glazing,
but with the added benefit of shading. When not required,
the blind invisibly retracts in the door frame. Centor's
patent pending Load Balancing Technology (LBT) allows the
blind can be operated effortlessly with fingertip operation
and requires no locks or latches.
During winter, the thermal control blind can be used in the
evening to significantly reduce heat loss through the
glazing. Thermal loss is greatly diminished as the fabric is
contained inside the frame box. The thermal blind is
available in blackout, privacy and shade fabrics.
Screen
The other major feature of Centor's S1E Eco-Screen is the
fully retractable insect screen. This allows the homeowner
to open up their living space to use natural cross-flow
ventilation but exclude pests and insects when necessary.
When not needed the insect screen retracts fully into the
frame, giving unrestricted views and movement.

opening. Designed for openings up to 7.4 metres wide and 3

Used singly or in pairs Centor's S1 screen systems are ready
for action as soon as the temperature starts to rise. At
cooler times of the year, they can be rolled back
disappearing into the frame and out of view. As such,
they're a revolutionary defence against insects in buildings
where aesthetics are also a priority.
Considered Design
The considered design of Centor's S1 door screen system
means it complements a range of environments. Available in
custom colours and finishes, the screen and its hardware are
integrated into the door frame itself, without interfering
with the opening.

Load Balancing Technology
Load Balancing Technology (LBT ) (patent pending) delivers
the effortless fingertip control that has become synonymous
with Centor systems. With no crude spring-loading to fight
against, the screen's lead-stile remains firmly in any
chosen position until further pressure is applied.
Load-balancing also achieves far greater mesh tension,
keeping the screen taut and clear.
Tight Technology
Tight Technology manufacturing techniques ensure control of
the horizontal edges of the screen so they remain straight
and tight across the widest spans.
Shock Absorption
A shock absorption system means anyone taken in by the
screen's near invisibility will walk away with nothing more
than a surprise and no damage to the screen.
Self-feeding Mechanism
Should impact or strong winds remove the screen out of the
top or bottom channels, the mesh will self-feed back onto
the roll as it is rolled away.
Built Tough and Tested
Thanks to Centor's designers, the S1 screen excels in terms
of durability and robustness. Rigorous testing ensures the
system will withstand anything modern life can throw at it.
Materials
S1 is manufactured in a combination of aluminium, stainless
steel, brass and reinforced engineering polymers. The tough
PVC-coated polyester screen mesh is hardwearing and
resistant to damage caused by pets and children. The mesh is
easy to clean and, if damaged by sharp items, can be
replaced (service call required).
Reassurance
The S1 screen system has undergone cyclic testing in a
laboratory environment to 400,000 operations. It has been
extensively exposed to dust, mud, sand and corrosive
atmospheres to ensure its optimum performance in the real
world, it has also withstood impact testing with a 17kg
punch-bag, wind testing, and considerable pushing, poking
and prodding to simulate real-life usage.
Specifying S1
Architects and Designers can feel comfortable simply
specifying "Centor S1" and leaving detailed component
selection to the builder, joiner or fabricator.
